i've been there three times now, and i still can't get enough. the staff are super friendly, the food is superb, and the drinks are heavily mixed for a decent price. it's a bit expensive for a pizza place, but, honestly, you get what you pay for.
my suggestion for going there - go early. there's typically a long wait (though it's worth it) and the pizzas take a bit longer because they're handmade after you order them, including the crust. i'd definitely suggest getting an appetizer if you're hungry, they're delicious as well!
also - if you like pesto, try the kosmic karma! |

I thoroughly enjoyed it there. I loved their pizza, it was different than any other pizza I've tasted.
I loved how the servers wore comfortable Mellow Mushroom T-Shirts, blue jeans, and gym shoes. I love places that are chill like that. Our specific server laughed at my lame jokes, and I thought that was awesome. It seemed like everyone who worked there was having fun. Plus, while having fun they didn't let kept our drinks refilled and made sure we were doing alright. That's an amazing feat for a restaurant on opening night.
I got the hummus and it was freaking amazing. It came with warm pita bread, and we got extra pita bread for only a quarter more. Not many places in this particular area offer hummus as an appetizer, so I flipped my **** when my friend mentioned it was on the menu.
They make a few specialty alcoholic drinks that look awesome- things like "The Grateful Dead" and "Dirty Bong Water" to name a couple. They also had a list of mixed beers- like Guinness beer mixed with Bass beer. I thought that was pretty nifty.
All in all, I loved it there and will definitely return. I hope this place becomes a college-aged kids hang out very soon. |

I've been eagerly awaiting The Mellow Mushroom to open. I've never been to one before. However, after reading the countless reviews for other locations across the United States I became very interested.
Some friends and I went here the day that it opened. We arrived after the dinner rush, around 9 PM. Upon entering, I was amazed by the interior. This is like no restaurant in Northern Kentucky. Tie-die colors, giant mushrooms, and wacky artwork come together to provide a very unique experience.
Upon our seating, our waitress greeted us, explained the menu and got our drink order. Soon after, we placed our food order: one of my friends ordered the hummus, I ordered some garlic bread, and we decided to share a large pepperoni pizza.
Our waitress explained that it would take longer for our pizza than the typical pizza joint. She went on to explain that this was because they create the pizza from scratch when you order it.
Shortly later, we received our appetizers (the hummus and garlic bread). Both were superb, though I'm not really a fan of hummus. The garlic bread was very unique, crunchy, and pleasantly seasoned.
It didn't seem long until we received our pizza. If I had to rank the pizza, I'd have to say it probably holds the #2 spot as my top pizza in the area. The sauce was slightly sweet, and very delicious; the toppings were very generous, and the crust was phenomenal. Overall, pretty amazing pizza.
I'm not a big beer drinker, but I did notice that they offer a WIDE variety of beer choices. Including a variety of local choices. It's nice to see a restaurant serving local beer. Also, their bar seemed to have a wide variety of liquor.
I'd have to say that this is probably my new favorite pizza place. The pizza was awesome, but the ambiance and friendliness of the staff made the night. After being in the restaurant for some time, I didn't feel like I was in Wilder, KY. It was a very unique experience! |
